Get ready for an even faster and more exciting 2026 Sporting Life 10K!

As the City of Toronto prepares for the FIFA World Cup at Exhibition Place, we’re refreshing the race experience – with updated start and finish lines, a new post-run party zone, shuttle bus updates, and a revamped bag check process.

Our signature nearly all-downhill course along Toronto’s iconic Yonge Street is back, now with even more downhill, making the 2026 route our fastest yet.

New 2026 Start Line: 2810 Yonge Street (Yonge & Glengrove Avenue)

One of Canada’s flattest and fastest 10K routes!

The 2026 Sporting Life 10K will kick off at 2810 Yonge Street (Yonge & Glengrove Avenue) – just three blocks north of the Sporting Life store at 2665 Yonge Street.

Participants will head south down Yonge Street and turn east on Front Street, toward Cherry Street and Corktown Common for the Post-Run Party.

The finish line awaits at Front Street East and Bayview Avenue by Corktown Common (155 Bayview Avenue).

All participants and supporters are invited to celebrate at Corktown Common – a beautiful urban park.

Join us for a festive after-party to celebrate an incredible accomplishment – and your meaningful impact in support of Campfire Circle’s mission to support kids with cancer or serious illness.

Why:

You need to get your bib in order to be able to participate.

Come early to pick up your bib and shirt. Please note: T-shirt sizes cannot be exchanged and are not guaranteed.

What you need to get your bib and shirt: You will need your bib number – which will be emailed to you on Monday, May 4. Please bring a piece of Government issued photo ID.

Picking up for a friend or having a friend pick up your bib and shirt for you:
If you are picking up a bib and shirt for a friend(s), you must have their bib number(s). You will also need an e-mail or text stating you can pick up their bib and shirt on their behalf or a copy of their email registration confirmation.

Sorry, there is no late/in-person registration at bib pick-up.

Out of Towners:
Event day bib and shirt pick-up is limited to those living outside 416/647/437 area code only. Be sure to know your bib number on event morning as it will be very busy. Shirt sizes are not guaranteed and are limited on race day.

Event day kit pick-up will be at Sporting Life store, 2665 Yonge St. (4 blocks south of Lawrence Ave., at Blythwood Road), starting at 6:00 am.

Medals & CelePLATE

All participants will receive a finisher medal when they cross the finish line.

Customize your medal by ordering a CelePLATE when you register for the event. A CelePLATE is an insert engraved with your name and finishing time that fits neatly into a recess on the back of your medal.

You will receive your CelePLATE by mail 2-3 weeks after the Sporting Life 10K.

Wave Starts

To ensure everyone has the fastest and safest event possible, we will be utilizing an improved multi wave start this year. Participants will be assigned a corral based on the estimated finishing time they provided during registration. Corral assignments & start timing will be communicated early May.

Participants are asked to arrive at the start line 15 minutes before their assigned start time.  Please make sure to give yourself enough time to park, check your bag and use the toilet before making your way to the start area.

Event Staff will direct each coloured corral into the start chute (fenced area) beginning 15 minutes before your assigned start time. Please follow instructions from Event Staff as they guide you toward the start line for the start of the Sporting Life 10K.

You can change your estimated finishing time through the Participant Dashboard, by logging in using the username and password you created when you registered. You will not be permitted to change your estimated finishing time after Wednesday, April 15 or on the morning of the Sporting Life 10K.

*The start line will close at 10:00am sharp. Anyone arriving after this time will be asked to start the race on the sidewalk & follow traffic light rules until they catch up with the back of the race.

Walkers

Walkers are welcome!  A walker is considered someone who will be walking 100% of the 10K, not running/walking. If you are planning on walking 100% of the race, please put 120 minutes as your estimated finishing time. The finish line will remain open until 12:00 pm. This allows everyone two hours to complete the route, which is a 12:00 min/km. Due to permit restrictions set out by the City of Toronto, all roads will re-open no later than 12:00 pm. If you are still on the route at this time, our course marshals will direct you to the sidewalks.

Course Restrictions/Limitations

Due to the size of the event and for the safety of all participants, we regret that: scooters, inline skates, bicycles, skateboards and non-service dogs are not permitted in the Sporting Life 10K.

Age Limitations:
Due to the size of the event, we ask that all children 12 years of age and under be accompanied by an adult. Children must be a minimum of 8 years old to be a registered participant. Children under 8 years of age can be a part of the event if they are in a stroller or in a baby jogger. Children in strollers are free, however, as they are not registered participants, they will not receive a run shirt, bib or finisher medal.

Getting To The Start Line

No Pre-Race Shuttle Buses in 2026

Due to parking and space limitations, there will be no pre-race shuttle buses from the finish area to the start line this year. See details below for how to get to and from the Sporting Life 10K with ease.

Transit

The 97B Yonge Street bus and several 24-hour bus and streetcar routes provide early-morning service to Yonge & Eglinton/Lawrence.

The subway’s Line 1 Yonge-University begins service at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday. Participants using the subway should plan accordingly.

For Ride Share apps, such as Uber or Lyft, use Yonge & Lawrence as your drop-off location.

The start line is 610 metres south of Yonge & Lawrence.

Transit from Corktown Common

Corktown Common Park (155 Bayview Avenue) is accessible via the 501/502 Queen 503/504 King streetcars. The venue is located near the intersection of Bayview Ave and Mill Street, and is a 6 to 7-minute walk from streetcar stops at Queen St E & River Ave (501/502), King St. East & River Ave (503/504B).
The nearest subway station is King station, 2KM away. Union Station is 2.5KM away for GOTrain Service.

Parking

There are Green P parking lots available near Yonge & Eglinton and Yonge & Lawrence. Please visit the GreenP app to find a location.

Shuttle Buses

Due to space and parking limitations we are not able to provide shuttle buses this year.

Shuttle bus tickets are available to the start line area.

The shuttle buses are only available from the finish line area to the start line area pre race.

Shuttle bus Drop-off location: Yonge St. & Eglinton – near the Sporting Life 10K Start Line.

We will be loading the Shuttle Buses based on your Corral. More details as coming soon.

Accessible Shuttles

There will be one accessible shuttle bus (TTC WheelTrans) leaving from the finish area to transport participants to the start area. 

If you are participating in a racing wheelchair, please arrive to take the shuttle between 6:00 and 6:30am.

If you are participating in a recreational wheelchair, you can arrive at the shuttle loading area based on your assigned corral. More details are coming soon.

With road closures along Yonge Street and Front Street, please include extra travel time on the morning of the event.

Corktown Common and its surrounding area has limited parking available. Please use real-time apps such as SpotHero or Parkopedia to reserve a parking spot in advance.

New ‘Bring Your Own Bag’ Bag Check Process

As part of our sustainability initiatives, there will be no plastic bags for gear check. Please bring your own bag to check your belongings.

Bag size limit: 45 cm tall × 32 cm wide × 17 cm deep (approximately 18″ × 12″ × 7″). Oversized bags or luggage cannot be accepted, so pack accordingly.

Subhed: Easy Drop-off and Pick-up on Race Day

Bags can be checked on the race-day for a suggested $2 donation per bag. All proceeds go to Campfire Circle. To retrieve your bag, head to the clearly marked Bag Check area at Corktown Common.

Race bibs have a tear-off bag tag underneath the bib number. Affix that tag securely to your bag (using a safety pin or zip-tie) before handing it to bag check volunteers.

Bag Check at Start Line and Opens at 6:30 a.m.

Gear check opens at 6:30 a.m. on Sunday morning at Yonge St. and Glengrove Ave (just south of the start corral). Look for the Bag Check tents.

Plan Ahead

Prepare your gear bag before arriving at the start. We recommend leaving valuables at home. Sporting Life 10K cannot be held responsible for lost or stolen items.

All bags will be transported from the start area to baggage pick up near the finish line and party site at Corktown Common.

Please plan what you wear on race day and pack in your bag accordingly.

Due to the size of the event there will be several road closures on Sunday, May 10. Please allow additional travel time to reach your destination especially if you need to get across Yonge St. between Lawrence Ave. and Front St. Stores and businesses on Yonge St. will be open as usual during the road closures.

Post-Event Party

Once you cross the finish line, you continue on Front Street to the Post-Run Party at Corktown Common where you will receive your medal, food, water and sponsor offerings.

Timing

Sportstats.ca will be using the Bibtag timing system to time the event. With this technology, your timing chip or “bibtag” is placed on the back of your run bib. It must be correctly worn on run day for your run time to be accurately captured.

Do not remove the Bibtag/foam spacer from your bib. Do not fold your bib or excessively bend or twist the Bibtag.

Wear your bib on your front. Do not wear it on your back, side, leg or arm. “NO BIB = NO TIME”

At the Finish Area

Medical And First-Aid

There will be First-Aid Tents at the 3K and 7K water stations. We will have a Medical Tent at the Finish Line and at the Party Site. There will be medical personnel on bicycles along the route – from the Start line to the Finish line. Emergency Services may require access to the route in case of an emergency. We ask that you follow any EMS personnel instructions in case of an emergency to ensure that they are able to access the area as safely and quickly as possible.

Toilets

Will be located at the start and finish areas, and at the 3K and 7K Water Stations.

Event Alert System (EAS)

The Sporting Life 10K will be using a colour-coded Event Alert System (EAS) at this year’s event to communicate the status of course conditions to event staff and participants leading up to and on race day. 

The levels range from Low GREEN to Moderate YELLOW to High RED to Extreme BLACK based on a variety of factors, including weather and event conditions. All event staff and participants should familiarize themselves with the Event Alert System colour indicators prior to the race, remain alert for directions from race officials, announcers and staff and take precautions to prepare for varying weather and event conditions on race day.

Event staff and participants should stay tuned to the current Event Alert System status via email, announcements and signage at the Information tents in the Pre & Post-Race Areas and at the Water & Aid Stations on course on race day.
